A robust sealing plate made from durable materials
We can offer you gasket sheets from high-quality brands such as Gambit and Victor Reinz, designed for use with a wide range of technical media. They are also used in the automotive industry. The Gambit sheet is made from aramid and mineral fibres, as well as inorganic fillers. The Xtreme Plus gasket, on the other hand, consists of a perforated stainless steel core sheet coated on both sides with a fibre-reinforced mica layer. It can be used, for example, in ventilation systems.
A leak at a flange, cover or housing is usually caused by an incorrectly selected material thickness, rather than the absence of a gasket itself. In this category, you will find sheets for cutting gaskets to specific dimensions, operating media and clamping forces.
Read moreHow to select a gasket sheet for specific operating conditions?
A gasket sheet is a sheet of material used in flat and flanged joints in installations and mechanical engineering. Under the pressure of bolts, it fills the microscopic irregularities on both surfaces; therefore, the selection process begins with the working medium, temperature and pressure.
Before purchasing, the following should be checked first and foremost:
- the type of medium, for example water, steam, fuel or oil,
- the condition of the surfaces and the extent of any unevenness,
- the thickness of the sheet, which compensates for deviations,
- the sheet size, which determines the amount of waste.
A thinner sealing sheet, 0.8–1.0 mm thick, is suitable for even surfaces. Thicknesses of 1.5–2.0 mm are the most versatile, whilst 3.0–4.0 mm is chosen for greater unevenness. Material that is too thick may bulge out from under the pressure.
AF-1000 material and the parameters that really matter
The GAMBIT AF-1000 gasket sheet is an asbestos-free gasket material. It is fibre-based, including aramid fibres, and is suitable for use with water, steam, kerosene, petrol, fuels and oils.
The sheet should come with a technical data sheet specifying the medium and operating range. Quality is determined by chemical resistance, stability under bolt pressure and consistent thickness. For automotive gaskets, it is crucial that the cut-to-shape piece does not swell when heated.
Which sheet format should you choose and how should you interpret the prices?
The sheet size affects the amount of waste and, consequently, the cost. A small size is cost-effective for one or two gaskets, whilst a large size is better for regular cutting or producing several shapes from a single sheet.
In practice, the choice usually looks like this:
- a 250 x 250 mm sheet is sufficient for one-off repairs, with prices ranging from 23.00 zł (including VAT) to 60.00 zł,
- a 250 x 500 mm sheet provides more space for cut-outs, with prices starting from 34.00 zł gross,
- a 1500 x 1500 mm sheet is suitable for batch production, with prices ranging from 462.00 PLN to 1966.90 PLN (including VAT).
This category comprises 155 variants, so it is best to start by selecting the thickness and only then the format. For gaskets intended for use with fuel, oil, water or steam, the material must first be matched to the medium and the contact pressure, as only then does selecting the sheet size make sense.
FAQ
What sheet thickness should be chosen for even surfaces and for more uneven surfaces?
0.8–1.0 mm for smooth surfaces; 1.5–2.0 mm for general use; 3–4 mm for significant unevenness. Note: material that is too thick may bulge out from under the clamping force.
Is the GAMBIT AF-1000 plate suitable for fuels and oils, and what else should I check?
Yes — the AF-1000 is compatible with water, steam, kerosene, petrol, fuels and oils. Check the technical data sheet for chemical resistance, stability under bolts and swelling when heated.
