What is a snakegate seal?

This type of seal is a sleeve made of high-quality aluminum that connects the oil pump to the crankshaft. It is known as the crankshaft seal, or O-ring, located between the oil pump and the crankshaft assembly in Opel Insignia vehicles equipped with 2.0 CDTI diesel engines. Its purpose is to seal this connection. The oil pump seal is a component prone to failure. Over time, it hardens and allows oil to leak, causing a drop in lubrication pressure. This situation can quickly lead to engine seizure. The first sign of an oil pump seal failure that we may notice in the car is a low oil pressure warning that appears periodically, most often immediately after starting the engine. The message appears on the on-board computer screen. Later on, the oil warning light stays on for longer periods. These signs should never be ignored, as they usually indicate an impending or ongoing problem.

Why choose an ADITECH gasket?

The ADITECH aluminum sleeve replaces the highly defective factory oil pump seal. It creates a durable connection between the oil pump and the oil pan. The kit includes O-rings made of Viton, a material resistant to high temperatures and engine oil. Installation involves removing the old seal and installing the new sleeve in its place.

The kit includes:

1 x sleeve – oil pump seal (aluminum);
2 x Viton O-rings to seal the sleeve;
1 x Viton O-ring to seal the oil level sensor plug;
    2 x Viton O-rings for sealing the breather inside the oil pan;
    1 x Viton O-ring for sealing the breather on the outside of the oil pan.

The modified part was used in the B20DTH (LFS) 2.0 CDTI 170 KM equipped with the AdBlue system. The difference between them stems from a different design of the connection between the oil pump assembly and the oil suction line.
