Purpose/Recommendations:
The lambda sensor emulator eliminates the "CHECK ENGINE" error reported by the computer as a result of a removed or malfunctioning catalytic converter.
The emulator acts as a connector between the manifold and the lambda sensor. Its purpose is to position the lambda sensor away from the exhaust gases and to average the exhaust gas analysis readings. It is designed for use in vehicles that meet Euro 3 and Euro 4 standards. In these vehicles, there is a second lambda sensor located downstream of the catalytic converter, which serves a diagnostic function; it monitors the proper operation of the control sensor located upstream of the catalytic converter. This allows the engine control unit to compensate for deviations by calculating modified values. This enables precise control of the fuel-air mixture composition. If the catalytic converter is damaged, removed, replaced with a jet, etc., the lambda sensor triggers the “CHECK ENGINE” error and often causes the engine to enter a fail-safe mode, which results in a significant drop in power. Using an emulator eliminates these problems.
The lambda sensor emulator works exceptionally well in vehicles equipped with older-generation LPG systems. In these vehicles, the “CHECK ENGINE” warning light often comes on when running on LPG. This occurs because the first sensor, located upstream of the catalytic converter, detects an excessively rich exhaust mixture. Using the emulator resolves this issue.
